Mr Alistair Jepson is a highly trained and skilled consultant orthopaedic surgeon working in Northamptonshire. As a specialist in upper limb surgery, he provides professional and personalised care for shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist conditions.

Although my job title is surgeon, my preferred way of treating almost everything I see is without an operation. That often means an injection, usually image-guided so it reaches exactly the right place, together with rehabilitation from a physiotherapist or hand therapist.

I keep surgery for when it is genuinely the best option for you. Above all, I want you to leave with as clear an explanation of your options as I can give, and my honest view of which one is most appropriate for you.

From collar bone to fingertip

Shoulder surgery

He is extensively trained in shoulder arthroscopy (keyhole surgery) for rotator cuff tendon repairs and stabilisations for instability, as well as treatment for frozen shoulder and shoulder replacement.

The whole upper limb

As an upper limb specialist, he offers a full range of treatments affecting the entire upper body, from collar bone to fingertip. This includes the treatment of:

Recovery after hand and wrist treatment often continues with a specialist hand therapist, who guides you through exercises, splints and a safe return to everyday use. Mr Jepson works closely with two hand therapists.

Please let the practice team know in plenty of time before your appointment. They can then arrange for your images to be transferred electronically, so Mr Jepson has them ready to review when you meet. It avoids delays and frustration on the day for everyone.
